Sleep

I’m sitting in front of a blank screen, a line that blinks waiting to type, words to page, written upon and given life to a story that is fiction or non-fiction. What to type is a question. I used to blog in the storied past … okay, that blog sucked and went nowhere. Even now I am a little unsure of what to say. I am a writer and I’m not writing; irony more than an oxymoron. I keep on thinking of what to write or do that would make this site unique and mine.

Every day, hour maybe, a new website is generated. Many of these are trying to grab your attention and say “look at me, look at my work. Don’t you see me?” I can do that, I can scream, but really that may be nothing more then another voice added to the cacophony of a maelstrom. I don’t ever want to put words on “blast.” Maybe I just want to say “Hello, my name is Nathan, and I’m a writer.” Maybe one day I’ll be an author, maybe today or even tomorrow I’ll write the story that will speak to you. But that story first spoke to me, and I need to write it. I need to see where the story takes me, what path is trodden. From there it will be a path that you yourself my go down, twisting like brambles or as straight as the arrow. But until I write it, there will need to be other items that garner interest.

If i’m going to use this site for more than stories, then I guess I may just include information that I’ve researched or things I find interesting. A few items to expect will be most definitely be coffee, rum, and the miscellaneous.

In the vein of miscellany we will touch upon music. A few years ago Nightwish released a limited 3 disc special edition of Endless Forms Most Beautiful – good cd by the way. But there were limited options to purchase the album stateside. One website called Mad Supply was an official retailer of Nightwish, and had the album in stock. Don’t bother looking for Mad Supply now, they merged/re-branded/got bought by Backstage Rock Shop, good site. Now the physical location is Finland and shipping, well, not the cheapest. Since Mad Supply was the retailer for other bands, maybe we could look at other bands and do a larger order.

One band that I had not heard of while cruising the site/shop was a band by the name Poets of the Fall. They are not that big in the States, but after doing some quick YouTube research I came across a rabbit hole of music that included Carnival of Rust:

That is the song that has the most views, but they they got their start from taking a poem and writing it as a song. This song, Late Goodbye, was then featured in the video game Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne –

Why am I going on about this band? Because they are a great band. When the Nightwish album was bought, Poets of the Fall’s greatest hits album was also bought. A month later, or sooner, I purchased the majority of the discography. I like the music and each of their songs resonates differently. There is one song that I have heard before that is quite good –

This song resonated with someone –

As a writer, I write my experiences and knowledge to resonate with someone. To speak and be heard, to listen and to learn. Words have meaning, meaning when in a book or even when as a song; what resonates with you? I don’t know what the future will hold, I just know that right now I’m writing and listening to music.

My name is Nathan, and I write. Hopefully, I can tell you a good story, that, or we can learn something together.
